Let’s be honest, life after graduation is far from being what we all expected. It is full of stress and unnecessary tension. As students, we are told to chase grades and not knowledge.

Students who have higher grades are labeled as successful while kids with below-average grades but a higher knowledge are considered as failures.

We are told that “The days in our school life are the most important because they lead us to a good college life”. As we get admission to a good college, we are told that “To gain admission to a good university, we must get higher grades in our college life”.

The moment we are thrown into our university life, we learn that without a good GPA, we will not get a job at a good-paying company. However, the day we pass our graduation, reality hits when we get called for our first interview and the owner demands experience in our respective field.

However, without a job, we can’t gain experience. Hence, most students choose to get an internship with smaller companies to gain experience. This results in them learning the INs and OUTs of the industry.

Once that’s done and we finally believe that we are ready to be appointed a role in a national company, the policies are changed and we are required to do another degree as per the company's demand.

By the time we fulfil each and every requirement given to us by the company, the role is given to another person who has contacts with the higher powers of the company.

In short, all our life, we are told to chase grades. It is our professional life that teaches us that knowledge is worth more than any exam paper grades we score.

Receiving good grades should be the number one priority of every student without any doubt. However, it should not be their ONLY goal. Work hard, but work smarter!
