Working from home can be a battle sometimes but I believe that including at least one of the tips you can get more done working from home.

I will be discussing:

  1. Create A Routine
  2. Just Get Dressed
  3. Separate Work Life From Home Life
  4. Remove Your Distractions
  5. Schedule & Use Your Breaks

1. Create A Routine

Look in order to make this work from home thing work in your life it’s important to create a type of routine in your life. Do something that is easy for you to stick to, something that can become apart of your everyday life. It should be effortless for you to follow, it shouldn’t feel like your constricting or punishing yourself.

Add things into your routine that can shape you into a better version of yourself, things like praying, think about when’s the last time you had a conversion with your maker and thanked him for everything you have. Thanked him for allowing you to stay alive during the COVID 19 situation. Meal prepping so that you won’t have to spend your entire lunch break cooking a simple meal, it’s okay if this has happened to you but you have to decide not to let this happen again.

And of course, moving your body, look my major excuse since the toilet paper famine started was saying the world is ending I can’t work out right now. They are bigger things to worry about right now, but look I would have been a lot calmer and centred if I took the time to exercise. Why because believe it or not exercising can actually clear your mind and make you feel some peace, which is incredibly helpful for me and my anxiety because its a moment where the problems of life don’t matter or exist.

2. Just Get Dressed

Put some clothes on, you can’t do your best work in pajamas, you have to actually dress for success so that you can be successful. Believe it or not, when you stay in your sweats it’s kind of hard for you to stay in work mode, but when you put on some freshly ironed slacks you’re able to show up to your Zoom meeting highly attentive. By simply changing what you're wearing your able to be your best self in every situation no matter, how long your workday maybe. When you take the time to find something to wear for your day, your giving purpose to your day and it makes you feel like you can conquer whatever the day may throw at you.

3. Separate Work Life From Home Life

When home becomes your workplace it can become hard to unplug and to just relax, which is why I have to say clearing off your desk can help out with this a lot. By simply removing the paperwork from your workday, it's almost like its signally something mentally that you are actually clocking out for the day.

And that you can now just be you and live your life on your terms, whether that’s spending time with your kids or your significant other. You can even take a moment to shower and literally wash off the day, whatever mishaps or struggles you may have faced, leave that in the past. So that you start the new day fresh, without holding any grudges against others or yourself.

Create or have a separate space for you to work in, and if you don’t have access to a personal office. Then try working in a place in your home where people in your life typically aren’t in, like the kitchen table wipe of the crumbs from this mornings breakfast of course. Or even a closet one of my favorite podcast is recorded in a closet by Sarah Jakes Roberts she’s the daughter of T.D. Jakes and she typically goes into her closet so that her children won’t disturb her show/work. She’s added things like a simple table and chair so she can get things done, what do you need to get things done on your to-do list.

4. Remove Your Distractions

Only you know what truly distracts you so it's your responsibility to remove those things when you need to get work done. If you know that Facebook & Instagram sucks up your whole entire day, then definitely need to download the Flora App. This app will help you to stay focused by literally blocking your favorite apps that distract you. I’m not sponsored by them but I swear by this app to help me get everything I need to do done.

If you have a habit of falling asleep while working then try not working from your bedroom or even your bed. Make up your bed for the day and walk out of the room and sit somewhere where you know you can focus and truly get things done. If your the friend that every one calls with the hottest gossip or they turn to you for advice then this is the time where you need to put your phone on Do Not Disturb Mode or if you have an android use vibrate. But please make sure that you make an announcement that you are doing this, you don’t want anyone to worry that something has happened to you because you didn’t answer on the very first ring. You will feel less worn out when your attention isn’t jumping from one thing to another, you need to focus in order to do quality work in your day.

5. Schedule & Use Your Breaks

When you’re working hard in your day, sometimes it’s hard to take a break or even feeling you don’t really deserve to take a break. But I can promise you that you do, by simply taking a 15-minute break it can help refresh you and return to your work less weighted down with stress. Make the most of your company breaks by taking a screen-free break and sit outside for a moment or go for a short 15-minute walk and take in the sun.
