Happy July, The Month of Soaring To Your Potential!

This week I decided to read “Health At Every Size” by Linda Bacon, this book is bursting with tips to help you lower your bills and raise your credit score and so much more.

I will be discussing:

1. Skinny Illusions

2. Body Battles

3. Acceptance Of Yourself & Others

And be sure to read my last blog on “Book Review: 7 Tips To Become More Effective” & “FREE Download: July 2019 Motivational Quote Desktop Wallpapers”.

If I could some up this book into one word it would have to be the word Health: the state of being free from illness or injury.

1. Skinny Illusions

As a woman, it is hard to feel satisfied with who you are when the media’s idea of beauty is constantly being pushed on you. And because of this body images, issues like Body Dysmorphic Disorder is being diagnosed on patients at an alarming rate.

When we are constantly bombarded with waist trainers sucking the life out of us and laxatives disguised as skinny teas. And getting backhanded compliments about your weight from your family during the holidays when your fixing plate.

2. Body Battles

Often times when we are on our journey to a healthier life we feel like we must battle our body, but in this book, you learn to actually work with your body. I have never seen this approach or point of view when it comes to weight loss and it amazes me, because while reading it just felt obvious.

It felt as though all of my weight loss concerns were being answered without judgment, and that I finally wasn’t alone on this journey to living a healthier life. I’m not someone who strives to be skinny but I am someone who wants to live a healthy life.

3.Negotiate To Win

Accepting yourself and your body is important and freeing, but a lot of times when others have completed this journey. They often feel as though it’s okay for them to fat shame others into changing because they used to be fat so they think that it isn’t shaming.

Or even someone who has lived their life naturally skinny and feeling like they have the answers to all of your weight issues. The issues that you never even told them, about because they are really just issues that see wrong with you.

I had a naturally skinny friend who thought it was her mission in life to make skinny just like her, except there was one problem. Her weight was around 95–105lbs, who clearly didn’t understand that body type could never achieve her version of the ideal weight.

If you know someone who is clearly struggling with their weight don’t fat shame them or you know that they are going through a weight loss journey. Either leave them be or provide to them support along this journey because you have no idea how much negativity they are receiving especially from themselves.

Would I Buy Or Read Again?

Can I see myself re-reading Linda Bacon’sbook “Health At Every Size” again? YES! Can I see myself even purchasing “Health At Every Size”? Yes, I’ve seen plenty of books and diets that say they have the secret but this book validates your reasons battling weight loss. Giving solutions to how we see ourselves and body.

The Question of the Week is inspired by Linda Bacon’s book “Health At Every Size”. How do you sustain health at your size?

Answer: I try to meal prep, and at least moving or going for a walk twice a week.
