RiskSwap’s Rebranding Announcement — Let’s Go for a Spin!

Yes, you read it right! RiskSwap will be rebranding to Spin Finance, which will include the release of the new logo.

The whole idea and a concept of RiskSwap branding was about risk taming while trading derivative products in a secure environment that supports risk management features. Although, while getting more users and introducing them to the protocol features, we’ve realized that many people mixed us up with spot DEXes because of the swap postfix. Others found it difficult to pronounce sks in the middle of the brand name and anticipated risks as something negative. Our core principle has always been to become a low-entry gate to decentralized derivatives trading, thus we decided to venture into a simpler naming.

We’re happy to introduce Spin — a new brand name with the same old values of simplicity, technical perfection, and security. The Spin name incarnates constant improvement, progress and unstoppable work of the protocol with best-proven technologies forming its centre. For some readers, the new name may be associated with good returns as users will be able to spin funds between derivative instruments. Others may see it as an analogue with physics: the spin quantum number describes the angular momentum of an electron. It is an essential property influencing the ordering of electrons and nuclei in atoms and molecules — the same as the Spin DEX’s ordering of bids and asks in a particular derivative instrument. Quantum, algorithmic, HFT trading — you name it! All these concepts remain very close to the semantic kernel of spin making it a simple and catchy name that embodies our core values.

Making our first steps in the space of decentralized derivatives trading, we believe that the end of the year is the best time to switch on to a new brand and go on releasing new functionalities in 2022 under an updated branding. We are very thankful for the community that gathered around the former RiskSwap brand and has been looking closely at our progress ever since. Let’s venture into a new epoch together!

We plan to undergo the rebranding on Sunday, 12 December from 16:00 UTC, so please don’t worry if on Monday you find yourself in a new ‘spinning’ environment. The updated community links will be published on all channels and on our new official site.
