Step 0: Get Ether on Kovan

  1. Go to https://faucet.kovan.network/ and use the Faucet there. OR
  2. Enter your Ethereum address into this gitter channel. OR
  3. Make a new post in this forum: https://forum.poa.network/c/kovan-testnet/faucet-requests/107

Step 1: Get the cUSDC you want to insure

  1. Go to https://app.compound.finance/
  2. Switch your wallet provider (Metamask, Rainbow, etc.) to the Kovan testnet.
  3. Click on the USDC coin under Supply Markets.
  4. In the popup, click Enable to continue. Confirm all Metamask prompts.
  5. In the popup, choose faucet in order to mint your Kovan USDC. Confirm all Metamask prompts.
Scroll down for the Faucet Button

5. Supply the Compound pool with USDC. Confirm all Metamask prompts.

Step 2: Use Risk Harbor to prevent protocol risk

At this point, you have locked some of your USDC in Compound for future yields. But what if a hacker drained your funds by attacking the Compound USDC pool? This is what Risk Harbor aims to prevent.

  1. Go to https://app.riskharbor.com/. Make sure you are on the Kovan testnet.
  2. Choose the amount of cUSDC (the token you got from Compound when loaning your USDC) you want to insure and click approve. Confirm all Metamask prompts.
  3. Click the purchase button to purchase the insurance. Confirm all Metamask prompts.
  4. Now, you should have an equivalent amount of Risk Harbor ERC-20 tokens that represent the insurance you have purchased for your locked USDC tokens.

Step 3 (Optional): Take down Compound to see if Risk Harbor works!

If you have any questions, the Risk Harbor team is active on this Discord: https://discord.com/invite/qjQ47Ey4bM
