Before I start, here’s a disclaimer: the sample size used for this article was limited. How — let me explain. No mystery box unboxings, no fan mail unboxings. Why, you ask? Well, for the obvious reason that mostly — if not always — these other categories are downright and undeniably weird and quirky. Just pick any and, well, there you go, crocodile jerky, knives and whatever else. So, none of that around this corner, brother. Now let’s jump right into it.

1. BuzzFeed Multiplayer’s “We Unboxed 11 Weird Things On Amazon”

When they say weird, you better believe it — for the most part, of course. When you sit through a cleanly edited rapid round of insect lollipop, finger hand puppets, portable restroom, and scorpion jerky unboxings, you would have wanted to believe their use of the adjective if you hadn’t already.

Plus, the delivery of the unboxing and try-out to the viewer is done in such high (and respectful) spirits you’d think you’re the only boring kid around with an un-happening life. Might want to try out some random Amazon products, you.

2. MrBeast’s “Things that SHOULDN’T Be Sold On Amazon”

…but are, of course. The thumbnail features the YouTuber taking out a gun from what’s clearly an old school Amazon cardboard box. Thumbnails, I tell you. Turns out it’s a pellet gun. Notwithstanding, a high-velocity pellet can cause enough damage so I wonder if it’s a healthy move for the site to keep stock of these.

Other items MrBeast unboxes includes the “Hoot n Holler Animal Caller” which emits various animal sounds including bear and turkey calls, an edible spoon maker (whose idea — I suppose — is to eat the food-made cutlery so you’d return with a lighter backpack when you’ve finished your lunch, I don’t know), a cat tissue container, a dehydrated water can (and “all you have to is to add water” to hydrate it — I mean who could’ve guessed?), an actually-functioning giant “Enter” key, a dangerous-looking morning star, and a spindly wooden bow and arrow set among a score of others. All the while, watch them chuck these expensive items over their shoulders for all their worth.

3. Unbox Therapy’s “Top 5 Most Unusual Phones In The World”

We’ve previously encountered quirky phones, but here’s another. A not-a-toy Mickey Mouse phone and a Marlboro cigarette pack (which has a free row for storing actual cigarettes) phone. The catch is if you don’t smoke.

4. alyankovic’s “Unboxing the 2015 Grammy”

“Weird Al” Yankovic, American singer-songwriter and satirist, recorded himself unboxing his 2015 Grammy. There have been more Grammy unboxings uploaded since, but this is the earliest with its sassy air.

5. DOPE or NOPE’s “I Bought… Nothing?! | 10 Ridiculous Amazon Products”

Last Amazon products unboxing, I promise. From the ten, the YouTuber unboxes “Racing Grannies”, “Realistic Fake Tongues” and a “Gift of Nothing”. Quite like the dehydrated water which nobody could’ve known in their wildest dreams, innit? This packaged naught of a practical joke seems to have a philosophical side to it, with comparisons made with chocolate, expensive dinners, and any gifts. Nothing is better. Always, ever. But for nothing with a philosophical side, it’s a whole lot of money.
