In this age of high media consumption, vertical content is all the rage. And here’s why.

Smartphones have been on the rise for quite some time now. There was a time when users preferred making use of the mobile camera to take pictures and videos in the landscape mode, in order to capture the visuals in their entirety, and as close as possible to the way the human eye captures it. Soon, with the rise of a social media platform called Snapchat, this trend started changing as Snapchat’s interface caters to the vertical use of the app, be it for taking selfies or posting stories. This brought with it the realization that it is actually convenient for smartphone users to continue using their screens vertically, rather than adjusting their angles from time to time.

This shift that Snapchat originally introduced, was gradually incorporated by other platforms such as Instagram, which followed the former’s lead and introduced the Stories feature, and now IGTV and Reels, all of which display vertical content, and utilize the entire screen space that is available to them, without letting any of the areas go to waste. This phenomenon debunked the notion that a wider shot is necessary to capture the entirety of a shot and instead focused on the essence of a slightly longer but more in-focus image that made use of the available space on a vertical screen.

Vertical videos have finally begun to knock on some doors in the Media industry and so has Rizzle, going hand in hand with the market trend of producing vertical content and making it easier for the users to catch their content on the go.

Although movie screens and television have been dominating the media industry, smartphones have always had their way of playing it smart in the market. Along with the quality of the content, viewers also give importance to the comfort with which they can consume said content. In this context, vertical content is what the users demand, and platforms such as Rizzle have understood this well and came through.

Smartphones are meant to come in handy at any point for the users, we don’t want to engage or put in too much effort in using them. Therefore, vertical content has become the go-to method for every producer targeting the media industry.

On the internet, content in the form of videos is most sought after. So it is no wonder that Youtube has had so much success over the years with the kind of methods that it has used keeping the market trend in mind. Another media giant to look at would be Rizzle. Viewers go to the platform for 1-minute entertaining short videos, all available in a vertical format. As they say, demand and supply should go hand in hand, and Rizzle has done just that when it comes to consumer satisfaction and the market trend.

Social media giants like Snapchat, Facebook, and Instagram, follow the trend of vertical content because they too have realized its importance and would not take a chance to let their brand value down. In a fast-paced life, social media users want to post content on-the-go, and this is when vertical platforms come in handy for the users with the help of a few taps because the mobile view is now a vertical view.

Lastly, vertical content is always easy and handy to convert, making the user experience better, hence adding more value to the brand because the media industry is all about viewership and the value the consumer adds to the brand.

So if you haven’t given it any thought, you might want to check out some user-friendly content from apps like Rizzle. Here are 3 series that stand as a testament to how convenient vertical viewing is. Happy watching!

Real Mugs of My Kitchen
Reality shows on television are inarguably some of the most chaotic and drama inducing programs. Surely these shows must be having some rules, but aren’t rules meant to be broken? Moving past people and reaching out to the world of novelty and commodities, “Real Mugs of My Kitchen” has all the elements of our favorite shows! Starting off with random conversations between the ever so utilitarian mugs that are a part of every kitchen cabinet, this series quickly delves into charity events and galas, with opinionated comments on what is classy and what isn’t. To add some spice to that, clippings from behind the scenes are also revealed, which tests friendships and highlights the diversity of these bounty mugs. As a byproduct of the parody, the storyline also captures the importance of one’s personality, name, and identity, and how it is either directly or indirectly proportional to their popularity. Margot, Peggy, Etsy, and Candy are involved in nuanced insider gossip that determines the group-divides and reconciliations. At the end of it all, the drama is supposedly left behind and awkward moments are reminisced.

60 Second Scary Stories
Every genre of entertainment has its own perfect qualities, but doesn’t a thriller become even more exciting when it has a tinge of horror in it? “60 second scary stories” is a Rizzle series that keeps us on our toes for the surprise element that each episode brings in a matter of just a few seconds! The most normal things often creep us out, be it mirrors at 3:00 AM or someone watching us while we sleep, and it all depends on the timing. This show makes it a point to bring chills down our spine. With the ongoing story-telling sessions, an important thing to learn is that elements of horror are brought about by things that go beyond ghosts, and there is an underlying reason behind everything that people do. All in all, challenging the everyday notions of good versus evil is something that the show promotes well.

Phyllis from Cincinnati
Phyllis is greeted with the most unexpected situation while visiting her niece when she gets hired as an extra on a film set. And like any regular person, she is super excited and thrilled! She decides to start blogging while on the sets, when lo and behold, the most common thing dawns on the viewers — she struggles with technology just like our parents and grandparents, but is eager to learn. Multiple rounds of the set lead her to making random friends who react in different ways to her pointing the screen at them, but one commonality is that they all help her in figuring out the technicality of that damned phone! She makes us feel closer to home by holding the phone up close to her face, with a cute double chin, very similar to our aged family members. While making everyone else feel special, she too ends up feeling extremely special when she gets the star treatment, and her commitment leaves a smile on the faces of the viewers.
