When Life Gives You A Hailstorm …

This journal is new to me, even this village that I live in is new to me. I think before I discuss anything else, I should first introduce myself. My name is Sidd. I am a twenty year old male, who moved to this community when mine was destroyed by a village fire a few months prior. I have no children of my own and sadly my parents were taken in that fire; however, I am glad that I am not alone. My brother, who is 16, survived as well. Although we only have each other, I am glad to inform whoever may read this in the future that this new community is more accommodating than I expected. I was a little hesitant than my brother into putting roots in this new place, but I am pleased to tell that everyone is welcoming. It is as if we are long lost family to them. Although we may call this place our new “home”, we literally do not have one. Since we’re new, we’ve been residing in a cave not too far from the central part of town. Everything is new to us, that I have not made official plans to make a home for my brother and I – though I do hope to get started on that project. This cave is not what we’re used to, but it is a great place for calm meditation – something that my brother and I need right now especially what we’ve been through. Since we’ve arrived here I’ve decided to contact the local builders in the community, since I was practicing the art back in my old village. My role in the community is being a household builder specifically. For my secondary skill, I have chosen to study healing in order to assist any injuries that may occur on the job or in general. I also took up healing to ensure that nothing happens to my brother. His life is just as important as mine. The builders in my community have chosen to split up our secondary skills so we can be diverse. Some have chosen to go into farmer, arts and scholars. I believe this is a good idea so that we are not all the same. When it comes to building, some have chosen to focus on infrastructures; others have chosen to focus on temples; while I and two others, have chosen to focus on the households. I enjoy working on the households, even if the other structures are just as important. It gives me great honour to think that I am part of giving someone – especially those who have welcomed my brother and me into their community – a home where they can rest, eat and enjoy their time with their family as safe as can be. It is my way of thanking them. Although I have enjoyed settling in this community, our skills may be tested next week since many of the villagers have been talking about a hailstorm that may hit. Since the hailstorm will most likely damage the buildings such as the temples and housings, my colleagues and I will be busy with repairing the damages. I truly hope that all this gossip is just talk. My brother and I have just arrived to town by a fire that destroyed our home; I don’t want to have to worry about anything else, but then what can you do? I just know that protecting my brother from anything – even a hailstorm – is my main priority. It is only a rumor, but there are precautions that we must take in case it is true. In order to do this, I am contemplating on purchasing a protecting amulet at Deer Park. There is word of someone selling it there especially for the hailstorm. Due to the fact that the hailstorm will cause stress in my employment, I believe buying an amulet will give me some relief from my worrying. But then again, since we are living in a cave, we’ll definitely be protected. I do not think the hailstorm will cause any harm towards my brother and I, therefore I will choose to purchase the amulet another time when events seem more suitable. But for those purchasing amulets, I hear word of certain spells or charms that coincide with the amulet in order for the protective powers to work. I was not one to go too in depth with protective charms and spells; but here, these types of rituals are practiced. I guess I should learn about this some more so when the time comes, I can be educated about these things. It is good that I am learning healing for these situations, just in case something does happen or someone does get hurt. Yet again, there are many professional healers in this town which I am thankful for. Things are getting quite hectic already, even if it is caused by a rumor. I think my time in the village will be eventful which is why I’m kind of glad I’m recording this journal. That concludes my introduction, I guess whoever reads this will see what will happen next.
