Sword Crafter’s Parable

The quality of person’s life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence regardless of their chosen field of endeavor.
On a Sunday morning, I was brooded with loads of realizations. My thoughts were aligning themselves while I was reading a beautiful piece by Robin Sharma. In his article to lead and excel towards world-class he had mentioned a heroic story of a Sword Crafter.
In a kingdom, there lived a sword crafter whose passion for Sword Crafting spoke his identity. One day the king thought to visit this craftsman. King along with his guards reached his shop where he crafted the swords. The king could feel the triumph of the craftsman’s dedication and passion looking at his work. The king was very humble and he appreciated the craftsman’s work. To deep dive more into his craft and to get to the root of his determination, the King asked, “How do you manage to craft such amazing swords?”
The craftsman replied, “I have been living this craft since my childhood. I fell in love with this craft long ago. It spoke to me, to my soul and with it I could carve my inner understanding of myself. I dedicated myself to the craft and so did the craft dedicate itself to me”
No wonder, the craftsman instilled mastery. We are no different than the craftsman. Even we have our craft distilled within us but the question is, how are we unveiling it in our daily life? Our lives are very busy, we have a lot of things to take care of but I really want you to think what is the use of this work if it is not enhancing your productivity or motivating you to step up for your dreams?
I have come across many observations where people get habituated to their everyday life and their dreams, passion for their craft fade away with time. Having said that, work and career are extremely important but our commitments to excellence is what binds us to our craft. We tend to flow with our busy life so much that we fail to focus on what is important. With growing technology, we have encountered more ways to be busy and to adulterate ourselves with distractions.
If you are in sync with my realisations, please remember the metaphor of the Sword Crafter. Aim to be like a dew drop which shines and stands out by focusing on yourself and accelerating towards excellence. It is important to have the courage to say “NO” to your time thieves and to your activities which are attractive but are hollow and not valuable. I hope this parable entwines your outcomes to something which is really valuable to you.
