You gotta know when to hold em..

Tuesday evening on 2nd of June, the setting is a Turkish restaurant in Osdorp called ‘Meram’.

Halim set up a meeting for me to meet with Bram the developer. Halim sat there quiet during the entire meeting/dinner while me and Bram discussed all aspects of the app.

Bram was particularly dismissive of some of the USP’s of the app and seemed to refuse to even entertain the idea of the in-app interview feature which was one of the main differentiators from the rest of the apps on the market. He seemed to want to just copy paste the current apps and sell it only in the Netherlands with a Dutch name.

After the meeting I had a long think on the tram and decided that even now there was friction and a clash of ideas. Include in that the somewhat lazy and disengaged attitude of Halim while happily assigning himself the title of CEO/COO I decided it would be best to pull out rather than risk wasting time and effort to an end that could be potentially stressful and miserable.

Who knows if it would have been fine after that initial meeting, but if there is something I have learned in my short time in business, it is to trust your gut. In this case my gut was saying, if you work with these guys, it will end in arguments, having to carry people and poor coordination.

Ah well.. on to the next!
