Six Reasons We Love COR Fitness & Spa at the San Francisco Marriott Marquis

There are many reasons why the San Francisco Marriott Marquis is an ideal place to stay for business travelers: Its convenient location on Mission just a block from the popular Market Street and the Moscone Center; the very popular 39th floor View Lounge; and yes, the hotel fitness center.

Earlier this year, Conde Nast Traveler asked if the hotel gym is dead. If it is, the SF Marriott Marquis definitely didn’t get the memo. It’s hotel fitness center, COR Fitness & Spa, happens to be one of the best in the city. Encompassing two levels, it offers a wide range of equipment and still manages to feel clean, spacious, and uncluttered.

There are many reasons why we continue to return to the San Francisco Marriott Marquis and enjoy the hotel gym. Here are just a few of them.

A Running Partnership with Fleet Feet

Since Fleet Feet’s SOMA location happens to be next door, COR actively promotes the running store’s events to hotel guests. As we’ve mentioned before, joining a running group during business travel is a great way to network and explore the city, so take in a Monday morning running tour or a Thursday evening brewery run. Check the store’s website for a full running schedule.

A Beefed-Up Cable Machine

We’re very happy to see more hotel fitness centers installing cable machines, but the one you’ll find at this hotel gym is pretty stellar. Yes, those are battle ropes you see to the left there, along with attachments for TRX bands (not pictured).

Free Weights, Kettlebells, Medicine Balls AND Boxes

When will hotel gyms learn that one set of weights simply isn’t enough? Fortunately, we counted at least four sets of free weights on both the lower and upper levels and also spotted a few kettlebells and boxes for higher intensity training.

A Variety of Cardio Machines

The number of treadmills, ellipticals, Stairmasters, and spin bikes you’ll find at this hotel fitness center rival most full-service gyms. Fortunately, there’s typically no wait for the cardio machines even during the morning rush, which means guests can fit in a workout quickly and efficiently.

Plenty of Weight Machines

The Smith Machine often gets a bad rap, but we’re just happy to see a barbell at this hotel gym! The Smith is on the lower level along with the other typical weight machines.

Bonus: The Mission Street Pantry

While it is not located in the hotel fitness center, the hotel’s Mission Street Pantry is worth sharing for providing a wide range of healthy and quick food options. Grab n’ go options such as hard boiled eggs, Muscle Milk, salads and Greek yogurt can be found in the refrigerated section along with fresh fruit. The breakfast egg white wrap is also a favorite and prepared to order.

While there are many great hotels to stay at in San Francisco, the Marriott Marquis offers offers a robust experience that road warriors of all fitness levels can appreciate. Book your stay here and share your experience in the comments below or on Instagram, Twitter, or Facebook.
