Weighing the Fibers of My Being
I sook to the Sky
--
When I saw you, earth, mountains,
and oceans moved—
everything skipped a beat.
The air glowed with both delight and melancholia’s longing,
I breathed in the moment
and felt the pulse of our entire universe and all others
dance upon me, expand within me,
yet weighing the nonplussed fibers of my being.
I wanted as much!—
so that I sook to the sky,
I gled to the clouds and through,
soaring amongst tears of effervescent joy.
And then I fell—I sank to my literal knees
in tranquility and with preponderance of sand—
lost in the wonder
of what it means
to truly see.
Overwhelmed, with me eyes now blinded
by gossamer and of choice—
I can see as much with my heart—
it, seemingly broken but prepared to vie.
Still, I know that colors are different when painted this way.
Time bends to this sweet distortion—
perhaps the chosen sadness of heart
is a way to stay parallel with you.
May your presence remain my eternal compass.
