Will I (Or You) Ever See The Southern States?

In a new climate, all of us have to whittle down our bucket lists, Sigh. No New Orleans? Ever?

The old south is Gone with the Wind?

Swarms of storms, sometimes tornadoes across the south stir up all our human plans. We always wished to at least visit, now it’s unlikely.

Always, we had planned to see New Orleans. At least a short visit. To celebrate the south we wanted a postmortem taste: Tennessee Williams, (Blanche Dubois), the old and wise tales of William Faulkner, Harper Lee, Maya Angelou, Alice Walker, so many others…

I think it is never to be.

Instead, if you are of the south, have lived in the south, or have wonderful, or horrible things to say about the south, tell me here. Please.

Climate catastrophe is changing the whole world of course.

It somehow feels similar to the “lost cause,” but in a far more human and devastating way. Losers, I hope, can at least learn. Add to that, our ever-evolving sense of race and sex/gender.
