All things are new

Have you ever repainted a piece of furniture, put a new face on your kitchen cabinets, put new carpet down on your old floors? Had your car detailed with that new car smell put in? We are often working to make old things look, feel, or smell new, but we still know that they are old underneath.

Compare that to when you’ve actually bought or been given something NEW! Never lived in, never driven, never before worn. It looks, feels, and smells new — because it actually is! No pretending needed.

Sometimes it’s easy to forget that we who are in Christ are NEW creations. That’s right, brand spankin’ new. Unfortunately, we aren’t just wiped of all our old memories, ways of thinking or acting, or unhealthy relationships — but we can choose to let all that go. Because Christ has given us the freedom to do so.

When you find those old things trying to suck you back in, remind yourself that Christ has made you NEW. That means you get to choose to be, act, and relate in new ways. Does it take a little effort? Sure it does. Just like learning to drive that new, powerful car after you’ve been used to a clunker. There’s a learning curve, but it’s worth the effort!

Live the new life you’ve been given and be blessed today!

xoxo
