An update released today allows places to have from a single player at most to up to forty players in a single server. This update was made possible by many performance improvements to the networking, physics and rendering code. It makes it possible to have both huge and very small servers and it replaces mega places. The old maximum player count limit, which used to have to be from six to twenty (with the option of having thirty for mega places, which only users with a premium membership could use), was changed: users with no premium membership can now have places with servers having from one to twenty players at most, while players with a premium membership can also choose a number of players from twenty one to fifty (this limit used to be forty, but was changed since the update).

This, in the light of the ROBLOX Winters Games, where servers with one hundred players were tried, promises to greatly expand the variety of games that can be created and to completely change the gameplay dynamic in games that adopt one of the player counts that were not previously available.
