‘Bored Ape’ NFT startup names Activision operating chief as CEO

The creators of the metaverse game Bored Ape, Yuga Labs, said on Monday that Activision Blizzard Inc (ATVI.O) COO Daniel Alegre will be joining the company as CEO. Alegre, who has been the video game publisher’s operating head since April 2020, will take over as CEO from Nicole Muniz in the first half of 2023. For the foreseeable future, Muniz will continue to work with Yuga as a partner and advisor.

Central African Republic delays crypto token listing, cites ‘market conditions

In a statement released on Monday, the Central African Republic said that it would be postponing the listing of its national cryptocurrency token due to “current market conditions” and “marketing considerations.” The country approved bitcoin as a legal tender in April. According to a statement released on the Sango Currency’s official Telegram channel, the coin listing on as-yet-unnamed crypto exchanges has been delayed until the first quarter. A further “release” that would allow coin holders to sell up to 5% of their coins (now “frozen” for a year and unavailable for sale) has also been postponed.

FTX’s Bankman-Fried signs extradition papers as Wednesday hearing looms

An official from The Bahamas announced on Tuesday that FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried has signed paperwork authorizing his extradition to the United States, where he faces fraud charges related to the collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange. Acting Bahamian corrections commissioner Doan Cleare told Reuters the agreements were signed at lunchtime on Tuesday. Bankman-case Fried’s will be heard on Wednesday at 11 a.m. EST (1600 GMT), according to a court official who spoke with Reuters.

According to a source with knowledge of the situation and a Reuters witness who saw the jet take off, FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried departed the Bahamas on Wednesday aboard a plane heading for the United States. Earlier on Wednesday, Bankman-Fried agreed to be extradited to the United States, where he faces fraud accusations, at a courthouse in the Bahamas.

Prosecutors charge two top executives in connection with FTX collapse

On Wednesday, federal prosecutors said that they had filed fraud charges against the ex-CEO of Alameda Research, Caroline Ellison, and the ex-CTO of FTX Trading Ltd. (FTX), Zixiao (Gary) Wang. Both Wang and Ellison have pled guilty, and U.S. Attorney Damian Williams stated in a video statement that they will cooperate with authorities. He revealed that FTX co-founder Sam Bankman-Fried is currently in FBI custody and on his way to the United States.
