Robotics Process Automation (RPA) helps organizations to automate slow repetitive processes and tedious business tasks. In this way, RPA helps to free up corporate workers to tackle higher-value analysis and decision-making, whereas organizations can benefit more from gained productivity and significant cost savings.

To demonstrate the true value of RPA in processing incoming invoices in SAP Fiori, RoboRana collaborated with SAP expertise firm Flexso.

Traditionally, a human accountant receives new invoices from different vendors and processes critical data such as vendor, date, amount, goods, tax and cost center in SAP Fiori, a web-based SAP user experience interface. This process requires a lot of manual effort and lends itself to numerous errors.

When applying RPA, a robot handles invoices in a more accurate and automated way: the robot monitors new invoices from different vendors, captures critical data with keyword recognition, Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and keyword relationships and finally processes the data in SAP Fiori.

“It takes a human more than 4 minutes and 30 clicks per invoice , while the robot handles this process in less than 1 minute, including all automated clicks.”

Finally, RPA helps organizations to automate business processes in a controlled, flexible and scalable way. However, the true RPA potential could be unlocked when integrating artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) tools to structure and interpret data from different sources and shapes.
