The 2nd edition of Robotex Cyprus was a blast!

We now have proof indicating that it is sustainable to licence Robotex brand and host robotics festivals in other countries.

Over the course of last weekend, Cyprus Computer Society hosted their second ever robotics festival, called Robotex Cyprus.

Robotex Cyprus 2018 local organising team

They first came to us in 2016, asking whether it would be possible to use our brand locally to help them set up a new robotics competition in Cyprus – why not!

At that time no one even imagined this to be the start of something beautiful and global. After all, Robotex was still considered to be “yet-another local robotics competition”. One that just had a long history, dating back to 2001.

In June 2017, they held the first ever Robotex Cyprus event in Nicosia. The organisers had hoped to see around 100 teams participating in a number of robotics competitions. And were startled when they saw 160 instead, as their budget went to pieces.

By June 2018, they had learned from the mistakes and managed to attract 274 teams, building 370 robots. Moreover, they hosted a festival that attracted 871 players and 95 coaches, leaving a rivalling event, WRO Cyprus with less than 50 attendees.

This is what success looks like!

More than 70% growth in a year…

All this came from them singlehandedly building the culture of robotics education across the country – which they keep on advancing, for example, by introducing Entrepreneurial Challenge in 2019.

And they are now planning to bring a delegation of 100 people to Robotex International in Tallinn where they will meet teams from another 40+ countries & robotics companies all around the world.

But the important factor for us is that they have managed to make it work in Cyprus. Indicating that Robotex brand can successfully be copied to other regions while helping those places start a robotics revolution!

Which only makes us certain that all other countries that have taken up our offer to bring Robotex to their countries can also make it work.

So far, this includes the following 10 countries: Afghanistan, China, Colombia, Cyprus, Estonia, Guatemala, Greece, India, Nigeria and Texas (in the United States) with plenty joining the family very soon.

Robotex International (November 30 — December 2) is our annual event and the Biggest Robotics Festival on the Planet. Thousands of engineers, executives, students and families come together to be inspired by industry leaders, build robots for various challenges and learn about the latest technology innovations.

Join us as attendee, partner or speaker, now!
