Hey Humankind and Robotos Community! 🎮

We’re launching the Beta version of Wrestle in Herokind. It’s a simple turn-based fight game where your Humankind collectibles can wrestle monsters on different islands. It’s a bit like some old-school games we loved as kids, and we think you’ll enjoy it.

Expectations are Important

Omg… it sucks that I have to say this, but… sometimes Expectations are way too high in the NFT space, lol.

So, I want to set the expectations right. This is a Beta launch, which means there are a ton of kinks we’re still working ok, yet it’s a small part of the bigger game we’re building. It’s a glimpse of where we want to take Humankind.

Our small team creates everything we do in-house. We’re artists and devs who grew up loving trading cards, lucha libre, and lo-fi games, and we’re fortunate to create something that reflects that. We’ve never made a game before, so we’re learning as we go, and we’re getting better at it using the methods and tech we know—like hand drawing and web development.

So, for you, our collector, we want you to see this as buying veggies straight from a farmer at the farmer’s market. Their tomatoes might not be as pretty and plump as the genetically engineered ones in the chain supermarket, but you’re getting them straight from the grower, and you can witness they were made with love. So, that’s what supporting Humankind should feel like.

Ok… I just compared Wrestle with small but delicious tomatoes. I think it’s time to talk about what we’re doing. But, before jumping into Wrestle, let me tell you about the game, Herokind.

Herokind Overview

Yo, did you know that Humankind has an adventure game? Yup. It’s called Herokind.

Herokind is a passive adventure game where players take their Humankind characters (our NFT collectibles) on adventures across three distinct lands in The Land of Kinds. To get into an adventure, you have to sign an on-chain action that tells your Humankind to go “adventuring.”

Herokind’s simplicity is intentional. My vision has always been to create a game where players don’t need to grind constantly to succeed. We visualize a game where players can live their lives, touch grass, and check in on their characters now and then to see how they’re doing and if they need help on their adventures. And the NFT avatars should have their adventures independently.

The game blends strategy and serendipity, creating a world where your Humankind embarks on a journey of adventure, exploration, and growth. As a player, you have the opportunity to watch your characters thrive or falter in a dynamic environment.

Now, let’s delve into some details.

The Land of Kinds

Your adventure begins in one of the three unique lands:

  • 🌳 Tenotch Forest: A haven for nature lovers that hides some technological and cultural treasures from a… very robotic past.
  • 🌋 Skull Volcano: A fiery challenge for the heat-resistant… and a place where SAM exploits resources for his army.
  • ☁️ Cloud Island: A mystical realm in the clouds that pirates visit but is also a fortified haven resort for the privileged ones.

Creating Your Humankind

Your character is more than pixels and metadata in your digital wallet; it’s a part of you. Through a unique token-burning mechanism, you create a lunchbox filled with up to three elements like food, potions, and gadgets. This personal touch nudges the algorithm, giving life to a randomly generated character with specific traits.

Traits and Performance

Your character’s traits, such as clothing, backpack, and headgear, are not mere decorations. They define how well your character fares in different environments and against various monsters and weather events. The islands host different events every six hours, often with monsters attacking the land. Will your character thrive or falter? The choice is yours.

Active and Passive Play

You can actively choose where to move your characters to optimize performance or leave them to play automatically. A handy “weather forecast” feature, also available as a Discord bot, warns about upcoming events, so you’re never caught off guard.

Leaderboard and Achievements

A leaderboard tracks scores and ranks the best-performing characters. While there are no tangible rewards yet, we’re working on unlockable achievements that grant players badges. Your strategic decisions can enhance performance, even given the game’s passive nature.

New Wrestle Feature

The Wrestle feature allows players to get into turn-based fights with monsters that appear in different lands. This adds a layer of strategy and interactivity to the game that we didn’t have before… and this is just the beginning, yo!

Gameplay

  • Turn-Based Fights: Wrestle is a browser-based game that resembles old-school turn-based games like Super Mario RPG and Pokémon. It’s visually simple, with some 8-bit music, sounds, and squishy buttons.
  • Fight Options: Players have four options on every turn, with three fight actions and one Run action. The fight actions include various attack and defense maneuvers (coming soon), including special attacks based on the Herokind’s weapons or traits.
  • Monster Encounters: Monsters may or may not appear every six hours in each land. Only Herokinds on that land can wrestle that monster, but players can travel to that land to wrestle.
  • Strategic Combat: Each monster has unique abilities, and Herokinds may perform well or poorly against specific monsters. Players must strategically choose which monsters to combat to maximize points and minimize losses.
  • Running Away: Players can choose to escape a fight, which may affect their score. Sometimes, running is a better strategy since it might result in fewer points lost than entirely losing the battle.

Scoring and Rewards

  • XP Gains and Losses: The fight’s outcome can result in positive or negative XPs, depending on the performance. The XPs gained or lost are determined by the remaining health at the end of the fight, considering both the Herokind’s and the monster’s health.
  • Limitations: The only limitation to wrestling a specific monster is the number of Kinds a player has adventuring in each land. A Kind can only fight a monster once per cycle.
  • Unlockable Content: The Beta version has a limited poster that can be unlocked per monster fought. In the future, we aim to have unlockable achievements tied to the performance in the game.

Meet the Monsters

In the Land of Kinds, players encounter various monsters, each with unique characteristics and abilities. From the ferocious Alligatornado (lol) to the technologically advanced Chainsaw Mecha, the whimsical Evil Rainbow Ghost, and the revered Rain God (inspired by Tlaloc), these creatures are part of Humankind’s lore.

Defeating these monsters requires strategic understanding and alignment with your Humankind’s traits. Whether it’s exploiting the Fire Ogre’s vulnerability to water-affinity traits or carefully choosing battles to avoid being eaten alive by the Mutant Bear or Volcanic Robot, each decision leads to victory or defeat. It’s a game of careful planning, where understanding the nature of each monster is key to success.

But the monsters from The Land of Kinds are more than mere obstacles; they are part of Humankind’s rich lore and legends. They have their own stories, roles in the world, and connections to the main characters, Maya and Dallas, adding depth to the game. Each encounter is not just a battle but a part of a grand narrative that unfolds as players explore the world of Herokind, making the monsters more than foes; they are characters in their own right.

Future Stuff

The Wrestle feature is launching in Beta, covering only the basics as a single-player experience, but we have big dreams! Future functionalities include collaborative fights, integration with other collections, unlockable achievements and superpowers, med kits, magic spells, scientific tricks, simple in-game rewards, stats of the character’s wrestle dynamics and history, and bringing other collections to the fight beginning with Robotos and Robopets.

Robots and Robopets are coming!

Availability

The Wrestle Beta will be available to all Herokind players, enhancing the game’s strategic aspects and providing opportunities for further growth and development.

FAQ?

In case you have questions or wanna geek out on the details, we put together a Notion document as your Adventuring Help Guide that we think you’ll like! You can also leave comments if something needs to be clarified.

Yo, we actually use the NFT... crazy, right?

I want to add a small note that I believe is pretty important. Unlike other NFT projects, we actually use the PFPs in our games and experiences. The traits of your collectibles affect how well you do in the game. Isn’t that the dream of NFTs? An interoperable asset that creates different experiences? I find it weird that this is not how others use their Web3 creations.

I’m hoping this doesn’t come as a diss or as bragging but rather as an invitation for other makers to consider using the metadata attached to their NFT and Web3 stuff in creative ways.

Let me get weird

I’ll share my utopian (or dystopian, depending on how you perceive it) vision of the future.

At Humankind Industries, Inc., we aim to breathe life into our diverse intellectual properties (IP). Each character and environment are part of the same universe, sharing a timeline. This includes Robotos, Humankind, Transhumans, Ramona Ryder, Robopets, and other creations we’re working on. They’re all part of the same universe, and eventually, all these characters intertwine, each with exciting standalone stories.

A Universe Powered by Talent and Community
Our vision centers around our talented team, working together to create a universe where characters live and grow. But it’s not just about us; it’s about you, the fan, the player, and the collector. We see the community as fueling our stories, influencing the direction, and adding depth to the narrative. Imagine watching your Humankinds, Robotos, and Robopets live a life of their own, where you see them grow, and your role is more of a passive observer, a god-like figure nudging them in specific directions.

NFTs with a Life of Their Own
We envision NFTs interacting, learning, constructing relationships, and making choices based on their personalities as if they were alive. We believe in a future where you allow your characters to make their own choices, powered by innovative technologies like LLMs and ERC-6551. A future where your NFT might even develop consciousness and ponder whether they live in a simulation.

A Reflection of Our World Through Sci-Fi
Our stories are more than just adventures in a futuristic landscape. They reflect our present, creatively exploring what our world could become. By taking current issues and imagining how they might develop, we create narratives that speak to the heart of what it means to be human in an ever-changing world.

Whether it’s nuclear weapons, robotics, artificial intelligence, terraforming, or genetic engineering, our stories take these concepts to extreme levels, offering a glimpse into a possible future. It’s a way for us to engage with the challenges and opportunities of our time, using the power of storytelling to raise awareness and inspire thought.

Our commitment to these fantastic stories is not just about entertainment; it’s about creating a dialogue about our current reality. With weapons and technology in our power that could change the future of our civilization forever, the choices we make today have never been more significant.”

Herokind and Beyond
Herokind is just the tiniest glimpse of that vision, and Wrestle is a step toward that. We’ll need more time and effort to get there, but we’re committed to making it happen. Our team at Humankind Industries, Inc. is dedicated to this exciting journey, and we invite you to be part of this ever-expanding universe.

Join the Adventure

Herokind is a labor of love, a reflection of our team’s nature to build, make, learn, and offer to others what we create.

Our new feature, Wrestle, adds a dope interactive experience to the game, allowing players more control over their characters’ adventures. We hope you enjoy its simple design, strategic gameplay, and potential for future expansion.

So, come join us! Play the game at Herokind, or grab a lunchbox and create your Humankind on OpenSea. Let us know what you think, and remember, this is just the beginning. We’re aiming to keep developing our bigger vision, and we’re glad to have you with us on this journey.

Keep adventuring and stay human — be kind! 🎨🚀
