People laughed at Asia’s first AI/ML accelerator — so we joined them
Hello humans! Team Rocco just arrived in Hong Kong last Friday. Tech in Asia dropped the news first, but we joined Tak Lo and his team at Zeroth.AI for their first cohort ever. People thought we were crazy and they laughed at us too:
“Why the f*ck would you move from San Francisco to Hong Kong?”
“I have no clue what you’re doing out there — LOL!”
“Haha, that sounds like a nice relaxing vacation! You gonna come back and work on the startup soon right?”
We joined Zeroth for the very reason they got laughed at. Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning is nascent in Asia. How funny would it be if Rocco had a hand in creating one of the biggest innovation leaps in the history of man-kind?
All laughs aside, there are 3 key reasons we’re here:
1. The brightest minds in tech are willing to roll up their sleeves and help; with impactful words of advice and constructive critiques.
2. The $20K investment — just kidding this is very little money and you’ll spend it all on noodles, rice, the MTR, and a too tiny 100 square ft studio. We were living in San Francisco, which is the most expensive place to live and build a startup right now. We will need to be creatively resourceful and uncover some competitive advantages to get the most use out of the $20k.
3. We wanted to work specifically with Tak and Zeroth. Tak is one of the most respected leaders in the startup ecosystem world-wide. Once you’re cool with him, he will fight with you side-by-side until the death. And we’re ready to go to war!
