Why the 🐳 Whale Hong Kong Meet Up Was Mind Blowing!
One month ago, I created a profile on Whale — the hottest video Q&A app in the market. I was learning daily from influencers or industry leaders by asking them questions. They answer with a < 1-min recorded video.
Justin Kan (Twitch/Justin.tv): Why do some “early stage” VCs want a proven business before investing?’
Jenn Choi (Champion of Communication): What has been the most challenging project you worked on in comms?
Bay McLaughlin (Brinc.io): What did you learn from getting destroyed in your first business deal in China?
Sean Ellis (GrowthHackers.com): Does it make sense to do freemium on a bootstrap budget? Do free users five different feedback than paid? :)
It only took a week of engaging with super smart people over video to realize how powerful Whale was. It scales human-to-human connections. What is typically done offline through coffee chats or power lunches is now done online 1-minute at a time.
I was curious to find out if these online connections were the same in the offline world. Jenn Choi planned a Whale meet up in Hong Kong. Bay McLaughlin hosted at the Brinc.io offices.
I didn’t know what to expect, but when I walked through those glass doors I was welcomed with hugs! It was real life Whale. There was nothing different and we hung out for hours. We continued to ask each other questions and learn.
Whale is growing my network and giving me exposure to an audience who I never would have met otherwise! 4,932 minutes of my videos have been watched since joining a month ago.
People send me questions about the future of chatbots, robots taking over the world, my career journey, and how Rocco works. It’s a great method of communication and the Hong Kong meet up solidified that thinking! Feel free to ask me a question too.
