The myth, the legend, the Beatles. During the 1960’s, the Beatle’s sky rocketed as one of the most famous rock groups and little did they know, they were making history. Although this infamous group was from Liverpool, United Kingdom, they became rock idols in American culture. The sixties was a time of major culture shifts. This era included the Vietnam war, the civil rights movement, the hippie movement, the rise of drug use, and the climbing popularity of rock and roll music. So what better a time then the sixities for a rock group to imerge and become the face of rock and roll music in America than the Beatles.

Throughout my time in my rock history class for college, I learned about so many different generes and artists throughout American music history but yet rock music in the sixties struck a cord with me especially The Beatles. You can even argue that The Beatles were not only masters of rock music but also pop, blues, and psychedlic rock. Their endless studying of American music made them a true jack of multiple generes.

I enjoyed learning about the Bristish Invasion and the major impact it had on American culture. The Beatle’s however, were not the only band that won over American fans. Bands such as The Animals, Herman’s Hermits, The Yardbirds, and The Kinks are only a few of the bands that had their fair share of the limelight during the British Invasion. Although many groups had their influence on Rock and Roll in the sixties, no band comes to mind as quickly as The Beatles.

The Beatle’s not only won over teenage girl’s hearts but also the rest of America and eventually the world which resulted into the term Beatle Mania. The Beatles took America by storm with their appearnece on the Ed Sullivan show in 1964 with their hit song “All you need is love” that had over 350 million viewers tuned in. Soon after, the signiture Beatles haircut became the hottest trend amoung teenage boys all over. Not only did the beatles hit the charts №1 fifteen times, they were also one of the very first ones to create rock music videos which would change the way people viewed music forever since they were able to add art form into visuals for the audiance.

No matter where you come from, what genre of music you listen to, or your age, you most likely know of the rock and roll legends, The Beatles.
