Famous Rockers Who Share a Name with Non-Famous Cities
You probably won’t be surprised by who is here
Yesterday, my friend and fellow music lover wrote an article about American rock bands with American place names; along with ones you’d expect like Boston and Kansas, he dug deep and also pulled out the Detroit Wheels and the Atlanta Rhythm Section (a Southern rock band that was huge in the 1970s but that I have not thought about since Ronald Reagan was president). Because Barry is not a troublemaker like , for example, he did not call his story a prompt or challenge and thus did not disrupt my life (I have a pathological inability to avoid music writing prompts).
Unfortunately, is aware of this weakness of mine, and when he published his own response to Barry’s story, “English Rock & Pop Artists With English Place Names,” earlier today, he went out of his way to issue a challenge to both myself and fellow Springsteen uber-fan .
