Lost Layers & Blossom Bangers: Music for the Spring Soul

On my way to work this afternoon, under a 26°c sky, I saw a woman strolling confidently along the sidewalk. Her long, black hair flowed behind her like a sail, and she was wearing a flowing, sleeveless black dress with its cut showing off bare legs with each stride. I smiled and silently rejoiced — spring is here!

Like the tulip buried beneath layers, the heat has drawn her out. Breaking free from the confines of hibernation, she basks in the sunlight of another warm season, indulging in the beauty of being beautiful.

I made the turn with a small park on my left where a dozen or so teens played touch football. Cresting the bridge crossing our local river, I saw kids playing soccer on the community fields at my right, with lacrosse players on the adjacent pitch.

Weaving my way through neighbourhoods, children and adults rolled by on bicycles and a girl with pigtails and matching tassels on her handlebars wore a huge grin and a lopsided purple helmet splattered with sparkling orange and yellow flowers.

Passing the high school, a pair of amateur admirers walked hand in hand. The girl looked up at her teenage beau with a permanent smile while he…
