ROCK Family Fest Camp
As a ROCK family we’ll soon attend our annual camp trip. The theme of this camp trip is to have fun, support one another, self and team growth, and learning together. Fun will be had through different activities such as cycling, swimming, boat-riding, football, team building among other activities.
The camp is also meant to help us build a stronger relationship with each other, build good characters among ourselves, peer-to-peer mentoring, and overall support of each other as a family.
We’ll also invite some successful people working in different sectors in Kenya. These people are mentors to some of ROCK students. We are planning to invite a doctor, who was born and raised in Kibera and is now a successful physician. We are also planning to have the founder of one of the successful Media Programs in Kenya. They will come to share their success stories, give us advice, and we’ll also have time to ask them questions.
During this camp, ROCK students will have ample time to tell their stories to other students. The camp provides an opportunity for ROCK students to feel free and open with other students.
And let’s not forget cozy camp fires! Gathering around the fire during the night to tell stories and play games like UNO, chess, mafia is always a nice treat for us. Cracking jokes about each other and having big laughs is a great feature during camps. This helps us forget all our challenges and instead focus on the present, by having fun and being motivated to succeed in life.
This is going to be the best camp so far. Unlike other camps we are used to, this one is fully organized by ROCK family. One of the reasons why we are having a self organized camp this time is because of political tensions in different parts of the country, especially Kibera, which makes it hard for such gatherings to take place. This is also a chance for the ROCK family to exclusively go out and have fun while following their own program.
