Rockbarn Media climbs an icon

Our music has become the soundtrack of the launch of “Up at the O2″, the brand new attraction in London where you climb the iconic O2 Arena!

Rockbarn truly has reached new heights and we are ecstatic, proud and honoured to have had our music chosen to be the soundtrack used on the new O2 trailer, and what an amazing trailer it is!

We were asked to write and create an original track for the minute long trailer which is both being shown in cinemas and online and through studying the brief we were given and getting the creative juices flowing around it, we came up with this! We’ve called it ‘Ascent’ (appropriately) and will be releasing it as Vayron.

How the story goes…

Originally, we produced and provided two demos for O2 and unbelievably out of all demo submissions, one of ours was favoured by one party involved and the other of ours was favoured by another! So we were in a rather unique situation; we were in competition with ourselves!

Obviously, one can never, and should never count one’s chickens, so we continued forth as everything was still at stake, expediently tweaking two demos as requests and comments came back from creatives and putting every effort in to both and making both demos and their respective edits as awesome as humanly possible to battle against each other — it did feel a little like sending your two children out to joust against one another! Like we say, it was a unique situation!

Anyway, the party that favoured this track ‘Ascent’ won out : )

We then went through the process of absolute final tweaks which were just tiny adjustments to the ending, but produced one of our favourite email remarks we’ve ever received: “We’ve just mixed them. They sound great. We’re almost there. Everyone is loving the version 1 edit 1 and how the track is feeling. The boys were wondering if one, last, tiny, eeny-weeny tweak was possible??”

“Of course!!” was obviously the response!

But it was all getting a little complicated with version 1′s, edit 1′s, edit 1a’s etc. So we thought we would simplify things. The final submissions (with stems for mixing to Dolby Surround Sound), with a veritable a la carte menu of four options for creatives and the client to choose from were, “Alfred”, “Bernard”, “Charlie” and “Duke”.

In the end, what you hear is a partnership at the end between Bernard and Duke : ) and these are just some of the comments we received;

“Genius. Thanks so much. Your hours of work on this has gone above and beyond.”

“The client loves it…it sounds great! What a mental week! Thanks for everything”

“Everyone is really, really happy”

Lovely, job done : )
