5 ways brands can wield the power of Fortnite Battle Royale

It’s time everyone took a page out of Marvel’s Infinity War marketing campaign. For a couple of days, folks were able to play with all five infinity stones on one hand and demolish opponents, in a fun, non-reality-altering way. This got me thinking about how other brands can ride Fortnite’s reach with some native co-brand campaigns

1. Brand an in-game item

Quench the thirst, replenish your shield.

There are so many items in-game that brands can slap their logo on to increase visibility. An aversion to guns can be understood but beverage brands are in a unique position to leverage all the consumable items like the shield potion or slurp juice. Maybe 2x the effect of a normal consumable?

2. Get a store front

Found in retail row — originally selling tacos

You’re not going to be selling in-game sandwiches don’t worry. Getting an in-game storefront would be huge for restaurant brands that are able to reach most of the youth in the US. A brand like Subway or Wendys can easily get a store-front in retail-row (in-game location) and when players farm it for materials, they can get twice the normal amount. This would cause everyone to flock to the location in-game and fight over who gets to farm the materials.

3. Sponsor the bus driver

Players jump out of the bus to free-fall on to the playable areas of the map

Here’s hoping the bus driver finally gets a cut for dropping us off to the map every time. This co-brand campaign would be the one catching the most eyeballs or “impressions” as the marketing folks like to call it. People spend folks have to spend at least 10 seconds on this screen before they can free fall their way to a playable area. Brands can also just replace the entire balloon with a Burger, Cup, or whatever their logo is!

4. A skin fit for a King

The skin underneath is actually the “crackshot” skin in-game

Burger King to be exact. This isn’t just limited to Burger King, any brand with a mascot can create an in-game skin that’s free to use for a week to let players have a little fun. Can you imagine what the Wendy’s logo would look like as a skin? Brands can even upload different parts of their mascot’s costume as a usable item in the Skin Making tool on Fortnite, which everyone has access to!

5. Wear your avatar’s clothes IRL

A clothing brand could have a field-day by offering unique outfits found in the skins section of the game, in-store. Brands like Uniqlo, H&M, and GAP might be able to cover the exact demographic currently drooling over their controllers in Battle Royale

Found anyone of them to be your favorite? Let me know in the comments below!
