Philosophy: Gun Violence
Which is more dangerous, the gun or the people who use them? There is no doubt that a gun must be fired by a person to be dangerous, BUT if a violent person doesn’t have a gun, can he kill somebody with a gun? The violent person is the unpredictable and unstable variable in this equation.
I know many, and was raised by, gun owners; they aren’t violent people. However, the few violent and unstable gun owners shouldn’t own guns under any circumstances. This violent minority is creating all of the heartbreak. Unfortunately, they (not the responsible gun owners) are supported by the NRA who is being funded by gun manufacturers.Together, they have the ear of Washington.
The people in this video have an even more powerful voice. I wish I could ease their suffering. That is why I support background checks and one “professional reference” from another registered gun owner before anybody is able to buy a gun. I believe that this would keep responsible gun owners in good standing, make it harder for unstable people with violent tendencies to get guns, and reduce the heartbreak of these victims; members of “the loneliest club” that nobody wants to join.
Jon Donne prosed:
No man is an island, entire of itself, every man is a piece of the continent, a part of the main… Any man’s death diminishes me, Because I am involved in mankind, and therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls; It tolls for thee.
