You may notice some changes occurring at the Green Dragon over the next few weeks. We’ve created this FAQ to answer any questions you might have. If you have any other concerns, please do not hesitate to email joerogue@rogue.com. Thank you for your support through this transition.

What is going on? The Green Dragon is converting to the Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery. This will be the 10th outpost of the Rogue Revolution and our first Meeting Hall on the east side of Portland.

Why? Since Rogue purchased the Green Dragon in 2008, the focus has been variety, quality and the appreciation of craft beer. As the neighborhood and the business have evolved over the last eight years, we decided the time was right to bring the full Rogue experience to the east side of Portland. We’re eager to share Rogue’s world-class products and unique stories with new friends. The pilot brew system will allow us to expand our collection of fresh, interesting beers.

What will change in the pub? We will improve lighting, remove the back bar, rearrange the taps and add booths for more seating. We will offer 35 world-class Rogue ales, lagers, ciders and sodas on tap, plus Rogue Spirits. To honor the history of the Green Dragon, and to hold true to Rogue’s independent spirit, the original 19 taps dedicated to independent breweries will remain.

What happens with the Green Dragon Brew Crew? The transition will not affect the Green Dragon Brew Crew’s weekly release. The Green Dragon Brew Crew is a collective of avid home brewers that have been brewing at the Green Dragon since 2009. They have released a beer every Wednesday for 313 consecutive weeks and the tradition will continue at the Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery.

Will the staff change? The change will not impact our current staff members. Russ Menegat, a Rogue Employee for 24 years, will continue to manage the pub.

Will the menu change? The new menu will feature Rogue Pub fare and a few favorites from the current Green Dragon menu, as well.

Will the hours change? Hours of operation will remain the same and the Green Dragon will stay open during the transition. Most of the construction will take place overnight and will not disrupt business.

What will happen to the Green Dragon Founders Club? We will continue to honor their privileges.

What will happen to all the events I love? We will continue to host your favorite events, such as Killer Pumpkin Fest, Firkin Fest, The Wedge and our regular Meet the Brewer nights. More events are coming, so stay tuned.

What will happen with the brewery? We will use the pilot brewery to experiment with new styles and flavors, and to provide our customers with a variety of interesting brews to enjoy. Long-time brewer Danny Connors will continue to operate the pilot brewery and craft exclusive specialty brews in close partnership with Rogue Brewmaster John Maier.

Is anything happening on the patio? The second phase of the conversion is the renovation of the back patio. This will involve the removal of the Quonset Hut and the installation of new seating and landscaping. No trees will be bothered or removed. We aim to have this done by the beginning of February 2017.

Will there be a grand opening celebration? The Rogue Eastside Pub & Pilot Brewery will open officially on Thursday, December 15, 2016. The grand opening celebration is open to the public.

Once again, thank you for your continued support and we appreciate your patience while we work through this transformation. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to email joerogue@rogue.com.

Prost!
