Rogue Farms Marionberry Harvest Wraps

13,519 lbs of marionberries will be crafted into Rogue Marionberry Braggot and other ales, lagers & spirits.

Early the morning of July 7, a band of Rogues arrived at Rogue Farms in Independence, Ore. ready to pick marionberries.

The marionberry harvest was starting two weeks late. Odd weather early in 2017 pushed the schedule back this year but we could already tell this harvest would be worth the wait.

Fresh marionberries picked right off the vine.

The delay gave us time to string up another 8,021 feet of trellis wires to keep the marionberry primocanes growing strong for next year. Primocanes are new growth of a marionberry plant that will produce fruit the following season.

By the end of the first day, we’d already harvested 1,563 lbs of marionberries.

But now it was time to pick this year’s fruit. On that first day alone, we picked 1,563 pounds of marionberries. As we wrap up the final days of harvest, we’ll have 13,519 pounds of marionberries in total.

All of our marionberries will travel 77 miles to the brewery in Newport and end up in our Marionberry Braggot along with other ales, lagers & spirits to come.
