This G21 was the most used Contax G series in the negative era, and I once bought a Leica MS-optical by a Japanese master. The G21 was mostly used because of the age of the negatives. The G21 has excellent colour depth, resolution and distortion control, and even at full aperture, it has a good sense of dimensionality. However, the reviews at the time were polarised, with the Biogon symmetrical optical structure being labelled, but some thought it was more of a reverse-focus design.

CLE with MS R&D Contax G21mm f2.8
G21 lens, external viewfinder, instruction manual, lens leather case, etc.
The G21 viewfinder is unfortunately more distorted and I prefer to use the ZI 21mm VF / Ricoh GV-1 21mm VF a little more.
Very good resolution, excellent deformation control

The author bought the Contax G system more than ten years ago. Like most of my friends, I started with the G28/ G45/G90, the best starter combination…
