My Experience with Inclusive Education
My experience with inclusive education began in elementary school. At first, it was quite a fight. I was the first disabled student in my elementary school. I grew up in the 90’s and early 2000’s, so I started school only 3 years after the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) was passed. This meant that my parents, teachers, and disability advocates had to talk to my school about everything from adding ramps to remodeling bathrooms to including me in class.
