Bob Marshall Wilderness — Montana

Bob Marshall Wilderness is not as famous as nearby Glacier National Park but it has no reason to envy it. It is often seen as the “quintessence” of packrafting.. and for good confirmed reasons!

After landing in Kalispell it is only a 1.5 hour drive to some remote entrances in the park
The weather was very stormy the first night, and it rained quite hard for a short period of time
After a chilly first night, now going over some passes to join the South Fork of the Flathead river
Not many people, many animals though
Weather is slowly switching from freezing winter to (scorching hot) summer
After a long day and not that easy trails (river crossings, dead trees, bear tracks, mosquitos…), arriving to one of the prettiest camp site
Bob Marshall feels very remote in some locations, nothing to envy to Alaska
At the junction on top of the White River, the “crown of the jewels”
Class 2–3 and pure clear water, one of the pretties I had ever seen
Then back to the Flathead for a more relaxing and scenic float
The trek back to the car was pretty wild, this is the only “bridge” I got for many water crossings
No more thick vegetation, enjoying the weather and Upper Holland lake a last time before the final descent to the trailhead.
