Real-Time Reactions to the Trump-Harris Debate

Kamala Harris told viewers they would hear from Donald Trump a bunch of the same old attacks, lies, and name-calling, and that’s exactly what they heard.

Asked about his economic plan if reelected, Trump worked in the claim that immigrants are “taking over” America. In one impressive run-on sentence, Trump accused Harris of not having an economic plan, of having Biden’s plan, and of having a “four-sentence plan, like ‘Run, Spot, Run.’” Later, he accused Harris of being a socialist and implied that her father taught her to be one. He described Democrats’ position on abortion as accepting the killing of 9-month-old babies, claiming that Tim Walz specifically endorsed such a thing. All of that was said in the debate’s first 15 minutes.

One of the moderators, Linsey Davis, politely pointed out:

“There is no state in which it is legal to kill a baby after it’s been born.”

Yes, that had to be said at a presidential debate.
