Over the past decade, Chrissy has been responsible for shipping tens of millions of units of hardware.

We’re excited to welcome Chrissy Meyer as a Venture Partner at Root Ventures.

When we were first introduced to Chrissy by her former co-worker and current Root founder Anna Shedletsky at Instrumental.ai, we were immediately impressed by Chrissy’s engineering and operational expertise, entrepreneurial drive, and thoughtful approach to building hardware. When it became clear that she wanted to help hardware companies grow, asking her to join Root as a Venture Partner was a no-brainer.

Chrissy has over a decade of engineering experience. She began her career as an Engineering Program Manager at Apple, where she spent hundreds of days in Chinese factories and shipped tens of millions of iPods and Apple Watches (she was the third member of the Watch team). Afterwards, she joined Square as an EPM where she rolled out new POS hardware. Chrissy then joined her fellow Apple alumni at Pearl Automation, where she was the Director of Hardware. Chrissy has a BS in Electrical Engineering from Rose-Hulman and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford.

The operational expertise that Chrissy brings to Root will allow us to better serve our portfolio of seed hardware and industrial automation companies. It’s rare that we find individuals who are strong engineers, empathetic managers, and entrepreneurial — we are thrilled to see what she will help our portfolio accomplish. Chrissy will be based at our office in San Francisco.

Outside of work, Chrissy dotes on her two dogs and volunteers at an animal shelter; she’s also an accomplished skier, baker, and can sling a manual car around a track with considerable speed and skill.
