The Peculiar Story Of Actually Being Satisfied At A Restaurant And Wanting To Pay More
Do you have to go higher end to get a good restaurant experience?
We talk a lot about bad food, crappy service and high prices.
In fact, of the stories I have contributed to Rooted about dining and drinking out, I can only think of one where I was wholly and completely satisfied. But that came on a rare journey to a Michelin-star restaurant. The only one I have ever eaten at.
Maybe you can relate? On the lack of satisfying experiences when dining out lately. And on making infrequent visits to establishments that have earned a star (or two, or three).
But the other week it happened again. And again. Not at a Michelin star joint, but at a well-regarded restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles.
It’s the peculiar story of only going to this place to score a great deal, but wanting to pay more. The staff was so accommodating and hospitable that — ironically — we were almost unable to get the deal.
You’d think this would have upset me and my wife. But it ended up being not one, but two of our best restaurant experiences of 2024 at the same place during the same week.
