Rome might be it for me. The one. The city above all others. The one you find yourself Googling flights to late at night, even when you’ve just arrived home from your last trip.
I think we all have places like that.
A few months ago, I visited Rome for the fourth time. One of those times was a month-long trip and I can tell you, it was one of the highlights of my three-year-long travels. I never wanted to leave because Rome has exactly what I love in a city. Beauty. Atmosphere. And one of my favourite food and drink cultures in the world.
Yes, there are tourist traps. Yes, some places will give you a raw deal in bad pasta, bad pizza and bad wine. But there is also value to be found. You can find pizza that will do things to you. You can eat pasta that will ruin every other pasta you eat henceforth (it’s that good).
