Why Healthy Eating Is in Dire Need of a Makeover
Because steamed fish with boiled potatoes doesn’t keep people interested for very long
If you want a healthier heart, the American Heart Association suggests microwaving chicken breasts for dinner.
I’m not hating on the association — they do amazing work — but guys, microwaved chicken breasts isn’t exactly inspiring food advice.
I’ve been faced with my own health issues of late, with higher-than-normal triglyceride (fat in the blood) levels. Get them down, my doctor tells me, or he might change some other medications.
I don’t want that, so I’m on a mission.
This mission has led me down some internet rabbit holes for triglyceride-lowering recipes and lifestyle changes. The problem is, if you Google, ask AI or search almost any health association for healthy recipe ideas, many suggestions are stuck in the 1990s.
Steamed salmon. Boiled potatoes and vegetables. Bland, boring food. Food that threatens to derail the very best of our intentions.
This isn’t how it has to be. Lower fat / sugar food can be glorious. Delicious. Something you crave. But many of us look at healthy food in the wrong way. The boring way. Something to endure until we can get back to…
