While studying for the CISSP certification, I encountered a few subjects whose breadth and depth would make it challenging to obtain an intimate knowledge of all of their nuances. One of these subjects was certainly Cryptography, which I find also one of the most fascinating.

In an attempt to make it easier to untangle this intricate topic, I have produced a mindmap which I am happy to share with the World, hoping that it could be of some help to anyone.

For those who’d like to delve deeper into this topic, and are especially into the historical facts and chain of events that allowed this art to attain the importance it has today, I recommend “The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography” by Simon Singh.
