At ROSE, we are constantly looking for advancements and inspiration within the XR community. Check out some of the latest XR experiences making a splash in our June/July XR round-up!

1. Checking-In to AR

Moxy Hotels have introduced Play Beyond, a new AR experience for guests staying with them. Before the start of their stay, guests are able to utilize the app to customize an avatar. Once they have arrived at one of the participating Moxy Hotel locations, guests are provided a series of challenges to complete during their stay. These challenges encourage guests to explore different parts of the hotel, and result in the opportunity to win prizes. Check out this video explaining the experience!

2. An AR Art Gallery of Stolen Art

Compass UOL has created a virtual art gallery like no other. This free experience allows users to interact with famous artworks that have not been seen in decades. While once housed in museums and galleries, they have since been stolen and have yet to be found. The 5 pieces showcased in this virtual gallery were created by Caravaggio, Cezanne, Manet, Rembrandt, and Van Gogh.

3. Padres Fans Play Ball in AR

San Diego Padres have teamed up with Motorola to build a one of a kind experience for their fans. Within the AR experience, fans are able to show off their baseball skills to friends in a virtual Petco Park. The multiplayer game involves users aiming baseballs as different targets moving around the virtual field.

4. ALERT: New Nike NFTs!

Nike has recently expanded their NFT closet by introducing an exclusive digital hoodie. This digital hoodie also pairs with a physical hoodie that owners will receive. Owners will have the ability to bring their physical hoodie to life utilizing QR codes provided with the NFT.

5. Real-World Doctors, VR Patients

The worlds of medicine and mixed reality have collided once again. The company GigXR has merged the two by utilizing VR headsets to project holographic medical patients. This allows medical students to practice their skills anywhere, and allows them to receive feedback in real time.

Arun Gupta, Director of Postgraduate Education, Cambridge University Health Partnership said that, “Mixed reality is increasingly recognized as a useful method of simulator training. As institutions scale procurement, the demand for platforms that offer utility and ease of mixed reality learning management is rapidly expanding.”

Tune in next month for the July/August round up!
