1. A New Reality Among Us

Developers of Among Us have shared that a virtual reality version of the popular game will arrive later this year. This new way to play maintains the core of Among Us while adding an array of new features to the community. The Community Director for Innersloth, makers of Among Us, shared that “whether it’s the ability for Crewmates to high-five each other in-game to interacting with tasks around the Skeld, Among Us VR builds upon the features in the original game in all the right ways. We can’t wait for the community to experience it!”

2. XR to Battle Climate Change

Augmented World Expo (AWE) is calling all innovators to try to solve the effects climate change. As motivation, they have announced a $100,000 cash prize to the winning team of this challenge. Co-founder of AWE, Ori Inbar, announced that ”it is incumbent upon every man, woman and others of conscience to strive to solve this potentially apocalyptic scenario — and there are no better tools than VR and AR to accomplish this!”.

3. Launching VR Out of This World

NASA is currently on a mission to certify their newest spacecraft, Orion CM-002, for flight. With the goal of returning humankind to the moon within the next two years. They are set to have their first test flight in August and NASA wants you to be there- in virtual reality. In partnership with Felix & Paul Studios and MetaQuest, there will be a livestream of the event in 360 degree virtual reality, which will allow for users to be completely immersed in the event.

4. Play in VR at Playland Amusement Park

The newest attraction at Playland Amusement Park will be a full Virtual Reality gaming experience, UNCONTAINED. This experience was created by XR Immersive Tech Inc. and is set to launch July 7, 2022. It is being described as “hyper-immersive”, with the first ever XR spatial audio system, heating/cooling environmental effects, and many other features. Read more about the experience here.

5. No Headset, or Glasses, Required

Mojo Vision has taken the concept of smart glasses to a new level- augmented reality contact lenses. Their latest prototype of Mojo Lens allowed test users to look at biking routes as they ride, read text on teleprompters and use compasses to know what direction they were heading. All while keeping their “Heads up and Hands free”.

6. Support Stand Up To Cancer With Mastercard

Mastercard has partnered with Stand Up To Cancer to give up to 5 million dollars. From May 1 through July 15, 2022, every time cardholders order online or tap their card at qualifying restaurants and grocery stores, Mastercard will donate 1 cent, up to $5 million to SU2C. To get the word out, Mastercard teamed up with ROSE to create a Snapchat filter that allows users to put themselves into the campaign spot. User’s take a photo of themselves and see their face in latte art, just like in the campaign spot featuring Sterling K. Brown.
