We Have Not Met, But I Know You Already
By Steve Wardrip

I’m a boy. She’s a girl.
We’re looking for each other,
but we haven’t talked or met yet.
Our paths will cross one day, but in the now…
I know you…
You like to laugh early in the morning,
You like looking out the window for hours on a rainy day,
You like baking and you like sewing,
You love babies, dogs and cats and books.
You are sensitive, caring, kind,
A nurse by nature nurturing others,
A wise counselor when the need arises,
A friend, companion, lover and confidant.
You know me, I’m a dreamer,
Even when I get my dream, I still dream on,
I’m a cheerful giver, a grateful receiver and a sore loser,
I’m a man of conviction, of passion and woe, a real lover.
I like blue and green and babies and palm trees,
I like early morning watching the Sun come up,
I like pastries in the morning with my coffee cup,
You know me, I like cuddling, snuggling and more.
Yes, we haven’t yet met, but we know each other,
The bad thing is, when we meet, will there already be another?
Is it just us in this dream? Another involved we just can’t see?
Fast forward you and I reflecting from our bed. Very old memories.
You see, that boy and girl,
Met eye to eye, ocean to ocean,
Ship to ship, sea to sea. Grateful are we,
They negotiated a life and struck a deal.
