Social media has changed the world of political and social activism for ever. Technology has allowed for people to voice their opinions in ways never thought possible. Some think that technology allows for people to say what they are feeling without fear of confrontation. Gladwell argues that social media is based upon weak ties but essentially there is comfort in these weak ties. Social media allows people to acquire information from the people around them, this is helpful in political and social activism because it allows for people to get many different perspectives on issues. Castor believes that through social media is effective it puts public figures. She explains how accidental leaks and exposures can cause for people who know nothing about politics to instantly create opinions towards the specific person or group. Opposing Gladwell Castor believes that you surround yourself with bias information based off of your family and peers. Essentially her argument is that we dictating what we actually see and about what topics and who. Stephen’s argument is completely opposite the other two authors. He believes that though spreading the word on certain issues the media is a place for people to abuse and essentially bully others. By hiding behind a screen people can more easily attack and criticize others and their opinions. Essentially these three articles express three different views on how social media affects political and social activism. I believe that social media is critical to activism because it allows for all facts to be exposed and allows people to get different views on each side of the arguements
