In my opinion, yes social media can be used to promote social justice, equity, and political points of view. Primarily because almost everyone you know uses some sort of social media platform. Twitter, Facebook, Snap chat, Instagram are primary examples of widely know and used social platforms in which millions of people access on a daily basis. People are constantly posting news articles and post about their political views. Therefore, social media has a way of getting the word out and spreading your personal ideologies to a wide variety of people.. some being across the country or the world. Family and friends contribute to a lot of what we see and believe. As stated in Natalie Walton’s article, “Friends and family we surround ourselves with, commonly referred to as ‘agents of socialization,’ affect what we see online, dictating the type of news we accidentally stumble across.”
