RDV, Sound Ventures and Forbes to host Global Change the World Competition
Pitch competition for for-profit entrepreneurs to take place at Forbes Under 30 Summit in Boston, October 16–19.
Rough Draft Ventures (RDV) is excited to join Forbes in celebrating the world’s top young entrepreneurs and talent at the Forbes Under 30 Summit in Boston, October 16–19. This year, we’re taking things up a level.
In an effort to connect with the most ambitious and promising young founders across the globe, Rough Draft is collaborating with Ashton Kutcher and Guy Oseary at Sound Ventures to host a pitch competition for early stage tech entrepreneurs as part of the Under 30 Summit.
We’re calling on all young founders across the globe that are disrupting, creating, and innovating to apply. The four finalists will be invited to pitch on stage to our panel of judges at the Summit in Boston.
Rough Draft Ventures, powered by General Catalyst, and Sound Ventures may each co-invest $100K toward the winning team for a total of $200K for the top startup. RDV may award an additional $25K to each of the three runners up. Forbes may also award $225,000 in an in-kind media grant to the winner.
Rules are simple: At least one co-founder or top executive must be under the age of 30 (read: born on or after October 16, 1986), company must be for-profit, and must be incorporated as a Delaware C-Corp. Applications are open here from August 15— September 6.
Here’s the criteria: We’re looking for scalable, game-changing startups with a strong team, product in market, and proven traction. More info on that here.
Great things have come from Rough Draft/Sound Ventures collaborations in the past– Mark43, a next generation law enforcement startup, began in the RDV family and is now backed by both Sound Ventures and General Catalyst. Plus, all three co-founders are Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees.
In addition to Scott, Florian, and Mark of Mark43, fourteen RDV founders have been named Forbes 30 Under 30 honorees since Forbes launched the list in 2011. Ari Weinstein of Workflow, Kieran and Rory O’Reilly of GIFS.com, Rebecca Liebman of LearnLux, and Stefanie Bothelo of Fitzroy Toys made the list this year.
