Focus as Practice

Writing at least 100 words every day is the first step I’m taking toward practiced creativity. That is, creating a habit out of doing at least one creative thing every day. With the end goal of not having to rely on serendipitous inspiration in order to harness creativity.

Can the same be done for focus? Many people chase the Flow, or undivided focus. When you’re “in the zone,” it feels different than just slogging through a problem forcefully. Answers come easily, distractions are far away. How then does one create a habit of focus? How does one begin? Is this the origin of the latest “mindfulness” craze that seems to be growing in popularity.

I wonder.
