Round Rock ISD Recognizes Becky Bannister for Employee Learning Week

This post is the first in a series highlighting the Round Rock ISD team members who were most recognized by their peers as the people from whom they learn the most. We are showcasing these individuals each day during ATD Employee Learning Week, Dec. 5th-8th. Visit www.pd.roundrockisd.org to view all 300 recognitions.

Six people recognized Becky Bannister as the RRISD staff member who makes them better every day

With roughly 6,000 employees in Round Rock ISD, Construction Specialist, Becky Bannister, stands out among them all. Becky was nominated six times, the most by any employee, by her peers as the person whom they learn the most from every day. She has spent the last 11 years working in the Construction Department, but prior to that, she served on the Round Rock ISD Legal Services team for seven years.

Each year, the Construction Department has a busy workload. With new schools opening every year, remodeling projects, and 274 portable buildings to support, Becky has been a consistent presence to a department that has seen high turnover over last few years. “She is the heart and soul of our department,” Construction Manager Randy Ehler tells us, “Without her keeping us together, the wheels would fly off the car.”

Becky credits her confidence to take on a larger role in the organization from her time with former RRISD staff member, Pat Peterson, with Legal Services and Ed Sevcik with Construction. “They always had an open door policy and I could go to them with anything professional or personal,” Becky tells us.

Although Becky grew up in Austin and attended Reagan High School, she chose to live in Round Rock where her three children attended Round Rock Schools. In addition, she also has two grandchildren and is a board member and Director of the Dr. Pepper Collectors’ Club.

Becky also gives credit to her parents for raising her to honor hard work throughout her life. Her older sister has also been a key role model and someone she has tried to make proud.

“I just want everyone to know how thankful I am for being recognized and that Round Rock ISD is such a great place to work. I’ve really enjoyed getting to know all the new people in my department. I learn a lot from them,” Becky shared.
