Blockchain-based Play to Earn (P2E) games have been all the rage in the past few months. Dozens of such games come out every week and it’s hard to follow the action, so today I’d like to share with you a gem I found that has it all: great gameplay, stunning graphics and several ways to earn while playing. Without further ado, let’s dive into the universe of Rise of Defenders (RoD).

JRPG meets Tower Defense

Rise of Defenders is a mix between Japanese Role-Playing Games (JRPG) like the very popular Final Fantasy series and Tower Defense Games (TDG).

In JRPGs, players build a team where each character has unique skills and in TDGs players protect their base against monsters attacking it in uninterrupted waves.

Playing modes

Players can play against the game AI in Campaign mode, but, in my opinion, it’s much more fun to compete with other human beings. Rise of Defenders offers two Tournament and Arena modes to compete with players around the world.

In Tournament mode, players will compete during a whole week and will win prizes according to their rank. Rewards will be paid out in RDG and RDR, the two game currencies (more on that later) and with loot boxes.

In Arena Mode, players fight against each other directly in a turn-based battle.

Free 2 Play and Play 2 Earn

Not only is playing RoD free — each player is given two free heroes to start their team with — but one can even earn valuable NFTs and RDR, the premium token of the game that will be tradeable for cash on Decentralized Exchanges.

Before diving into details on the ways to earn, let me first explain the two tokens in the games: RDG and RDR.

RDG coins are in infinite supply and are not sold directly to users but can be won during different play modes, whereas RDR is the “premium token” of RoD. There is a finite supply and it is available outside the game, on trading platforms.

Earn RDG

Players can earn RDG by:

  • Winning Campaigns
  • Completing a task in Daily Quests
  • Participating/winning Tournaments and Arena fights.

They will then be able to spend their RDG to level up their heroes and upgrade their equipment. RDG can also be used to

Buy Normal loot boxes, price = 100,000 RDG, which can unlock champion shards and equipment.

Level Up Castles.

Trade on the in-game marketplace to buy NFT items or exchange for RDR.

Earn RDR

Players can earn RDR by:

  • Ranking high during Tournaments or Arena Mode fights.
  • Trading their NFT assets against RDR
  • Earning rewards during special events

RDR can be used to

  • Buy Premium loot boxes. Price = 100 RDG.
  • Upgrade their heroes to levels accessible only with RDR
  • Trade on the in-game marketplace to buy NFT items.
  • Participate in special events or tournaments where entrance fees are labeled in RDR.

NFT marketplace

All items in the game—heroes, equipment and treasure boxes — are NFTs. Players will be able to buy, sell and trade their items with other players at the in-game NFT marketplace.

But Players will also be able to

offer their NFT products on other markets to maximize their exchange value.

There will also be a NFT rental system that will enable players who don’t have strong squads to be able to pass levels.

$RDR token usage and IDO

Rise of Defenders will issue a token, ticker RDR. It will be the platform’s premium token and will be used for:

  • Player Rewards (see above).
  • NFT Payment, trading.
  • Event participation fees.
  • Governance: RDR will allow holders to create and vote on on-chain governance proposals to determine future features and/or parameters of the network.
  • Staking Rewards.

Public sale

The public sale IDO will be held on the 29th of December 2021 on the following platforms:

IDO data

  • IDO Price: $0.036.
  • Total Supply: 500,000,000 RDR.
  • Initial Market Cap: $627,500.
  • Blockchain Technology: Binance Smart Chain (BSC).

Rise of Defenders Beta version will be launched the 10th of January 2022.
