Our first endeavor will be hiking the Appalachian Trail!

Rather than starting from Georgia and going north to Maine, we are going to be doing a Flip Flop. This means that we are going to start in the middle — Virginia — since we are already here. We’ll head north to Maine, then drive/fly back to Virginia and head south on the trail from where we started. It works out for us, keeps us in good weather, and away from the biggest crowds. That’s the theory anyway!

Hiking all 2190 miles of the trail typically takes people 5–7 months. We are starting in late March, taking a break in August, and hoping to be done before Thanksgiving.
