Pantheon.io, Wordpress and SFTP with the Atom IDE
I didn’t know what Pantheon was until a few weeks ago after attending an interview. If you’re just like I was, Pantheon is 1) a hosting platform especially for Wordpress and Drupal, 2) an multi-environment platform that will allow your version controlled code and applications to exist in one place, and optionally 3) a cloud development environment, where you can SFTP into your project and work with multi-developers together.
How to work with Pantheon on the cloud?
Atom works perfectly with Pantheon. In fact, all you need is:
- The Atom IDE
- An Atom SFTP Package such as Remote Sync
- An up-and-running project on Pantheon with SFTP enabled
Step by Step
- Launch a project on Pantheon — it’s super simple. Go to http://pantheon.io
- Download the Atom IDE
- Install Packages by going to Atom File > Settings > Install Packages > then type in “remote-sync”

4. Then setup the remote sync by right clicking on the project and choosing Remote Sync > Configure.

5. Grab the SFTP details from Pantheon

6. And simply add them to the IDE

That’s it.
Hope it was helpful.
